Twitter response:

Choko Loko – White Chocolate

Do not be fooled by the appearance of a good lad, for this villain is evil indeed! We’re talking about the white chocolate. That’s right, one that tastes delicious and melts in your mouth. Behind this innocent face is nothing more than cocoa butter, milk powder and sugar. That is, a caloric bomb, rich in fats and sugar that are bad for children’s health. A hard fight for our hero Karl, don’t you think? But he will beat this villain easily!

To be considered real chocolate is necessary cocoa in its formula. During production, it is pressed to be divided into two parts: cocoa mass and butter (or fat). From the solid part – mass of the cocoa – the black chocolate is made, and from the leftover white chocolate is produced.

Taking into account the nutritional content, cocoa butter is poor in nutrients and in excess can contribute to the emergence of high cholesterol, triglycerides, diabetes, obesity, cavities among other diseases. Not to mention that excess sugar can cause insulin spikes that damage the body, liver fat and memory. It’s scary isn’t it ?!

A curiosity:

The part where the cocoa concentrates, is rich in minerals such as phosphorus, calcium, potassium, chlorine, sodium, iron, magnesium, zinc and copper, and vitamins (A, B1, B2, B3, E). But to make the chocolate that we know is added a lot of milk, refined sugar, emulsifiers, preservatives and other substances that intoxicate our body.

But what can we do?

One suggestion is to prefer organic types, with more percentages of cocoa (above 70%) and less sugar content, which preserve the nutritional properties of chocolate with flavonoids, vitamins and minerals. But attention to the quantities, even with dark chocolate, their consumption should be moderate because both versions have high levels of fat.

Another option is to encourage children to eat a fruit as a dessert option instead of chocolate. That way it’s easier to ensure their health. It is worth to play with the colors and shapes of fruits like stars made of star fruit and clouds made of pear.

Here’s a simple way to spend the excess calories:
